ABOUT NICK
Nick is based in Austin, by way of Spring Valley, California and several years in the Bay Area. He moved to Texas in 2016. An avid collector of random knowledge, he is consistently inspired by architecture, design and art history, and by ecology — his first academic love.
He started pottery in the spring of 2024, after a beginning wheel-throwing class at the Art School at the Contemporary Austin at Laguna Gloria, and went in hard: several classes at once, then a 24/7 membership at Broad Studios Clubhouse in East Austin.
Wheel-thrown and hand-built stoneware. Cone 6 oxidation, cone 10 soda, and pit fires. The surfaces come from high-iron glazes and from what each firing does to them — soda vapor, ash, smoke, the accidents of a pit.
Cool Dirt Ceramics became Dirtware in 2026.
Nick is a proud queer artist who believes that a diverse, equitable and inclusive world is worth living for, as hard as you can. Y’all means all.
